A good majority of the genre still builds itself on systems implemented within Puzzle & Dragons, like resource missions rotating out on a daily schedule. The game has been going strong since 2012, and has even been released offline and console versions on a few occasions. In 2015, Nintendo even partnered with GungHo, the developers, to make a Super Mario Bros.

The gist was that the group saw GungHo as losing value, as it had failed to move past Puzzle & Dragons. This was all dismissed, as the company faced off with the investor (who holds 8%), and didn’t manage to gain enough votes to fire the CEO, Morishita. However, they did manage to get the proposal to make it easier to oust executives accepted. GungHo seems to be ramping up publishing efforts
